Major (Retired) Richard Joseph

United States Air Force Reserve

Tour of Duty – March 1943 – April 1974

 

Major Richard Joseph was born in Winslow, Maine.

 

He is a graduate of Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester, Massachusetts.  His post secondary education includes a degree from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine.

 

He entered the military in March 1943

 

His military training includes:  Basic Training in the Army Air Corps in Miami Beach, Florida.  Cadet training at West Texas Teacher’s College in Canyon, Texas.  Gunnery School in Las Vegas, Nevada and Navigation School at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas to obtain his wings.  He attended Radar School at Langley Field, Virginia to obtain his radar navigation wings.

 

He served in duty assignments as a disbursing officer and Accounting and Finance Officer.

 

His overseas assignments include:  Kauwi, Hawaii, The Philippine Islands and Okinawa and Osaka Japan.

 

His awards, decorations and citations include:  Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Service Medal, Army of Occupation Medal-Japan.

 

Major Joseph holds membership in the following Military Service Organizations:   American Legion-Manchester Post, Westbrook, Maine,  Life Member of the Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW),  Life Member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA)  and is a Life Member of the Maine Officers Association (MOA).

 

Major Joseph is a widower with three children.

 

His is currently retired  and a part time public accountant (Tax practice during January to May each year ) 

 

He resides in Scarborough, Maine.
